어떤 것으로도 채워지지 않으며 무엇으로도 만족할 수 없는 인간의 욕구를 다룬 박효진의 매체 융합 1인 마당극 –About Needs:욕구에 대하여- 의 후속작인 –Connection:관계에 대하여- 는 개인과 개인, 개인과 공동체 사이에서 얽히고설키는 관계를 다룬다.
-Connection:관계에 대하여-는 1과장 : 관계의 시작, 2과장 : 관계 맺고 풀기, 3과장 : 관계 끊기, 4과장 : 관계의 끝으로 구성된다. 13개의 가야금 현과 안족(가야금 줄의 받침목)을 재료 삼아 연주하고, 탈춤을 차용한 움직임으로 전개되는 극 속에서는 인간관계에서 생성되는 유대와 연결, 개인의 독립성과 개별성, 그리고 공동체에서 발생하는 상호의존성과 복잡성에 대한 서사들을 담는다.
박효진은 초 고도화되는 기술의 발전 속에서 인간의 고유한 영역을 더욱 깊게 탐구하고, 그 의미를 담아내기 위한 표현 방법들을 고민한다. 공연과 전시, 앨범 발매 등 다양한 형태로 전통 창작 실험 프로젝트를 발표하고 있다.
EXPLANATION
This solo performance by Hyojin Park is a multimedia one-man play or comprehensive art that delves into touches on human relationships. Building on her previous work, “About Needs,” her new work, “Connection,” examines the intricate web of connections between individuals and their communities and expresses the basic desire to interact with others and other desires for relationships.
The performance is composed of four parts: “The Beginning of Relationships,” “Making Relationships,” “Breaking Relationships,” and “The End of Relationships.” It showcases a distinctive use of the gayageum, a traditional Korean string instrument, played with thirteen strings and an anjok, the supporting structure for the strings. This performance represents the bonds and dynamics of human relationships, complemented by movements inspired by Talchum, the Korean mask dance. The narrative also explores themes of personal autonomy, individuality, and the intertwined complexities and dependencies within a community.
Hyojin Park’s work is a profound investigation into the essence and values of humanity, especially in the context of rapidly evolving technology. She continues to explore these themes through a blend of traditional and experimental art forms, presenting her findings in performances, exhibitions, and albums. She delivers a refreshing artistic experience and diversity of art through her uniqueness that crosses media and genre. At the same time, she carries out broad collaborations, including intangible cultural heritage inheritance and passes down, and cultural arts education, consulting, planning, directing, musical directing, and improvised performance.
